THE FIVE ELEMENTS AND ITS DIRECTIONS
1. SOUTH is the element of FIRE. It signifies the red color, bright sunlight, and the glow of lamps, anything sharp or pointed, upward rising energy and the summer season. It symbolizes luck, respect, success, name, fame and public recognition. Create a fireplace or place a lamp to activate this element.
2. NORTH is the element of WATER. It signifies the Blue and Black color, energy moving downwards, represents the new moon, wavy shapes, spiraling energy and the winter season. It affects growth, advancement, the career luck and prospects of the family. Excellent medium to activate this element is placing the household furnishings like carpets and curtains, upholstery, covers and cushions having dark and dominant colors. Another way of energizing the water element is to place an aquarium with gold fish, carp etc.
3. EAST is the element of big WOOD. It signifies the dark green color, full-grown plants, flowers and seeds, outward flowing energy and the spring season. 4. WEST is the element of small METAL. It signifies the white color, gold and silver metal, inward flowing energy and the autumn season. It magnifies the energy and adds to the harmony within the home. You can also place three old Chinese coins for wealth. But the coins must have square holes, which symbolizes heaven and earth.
5. SOUTHEAST is the element of small WOOD. It represents the light green color, young and growing plants, rectangular shapes, expanding energy and the spring season. It affects the income and material wealth of the family and a good harvest.
6. NORTHWEST is the element of big METAL. It represents all the metallic colors, gold and silver metal, inward flowing energy and the autumn season.
